In the same span, the Leafs have made it to the conference finals 4 times (stopped by the clutch-n-grab Canes, the Dominator, Bure and Gretzky), made the conference semis 3 times, and missed the playoffs just twice.

Talk about a lack of respect for your elder statesmen.
